Cameron’s thesis project is an advertising agency located in Colfax, NC. His overall concept is about connections and intersections. He is exploring many things under that including public and private spaces, systems and how to create unity in the spaces. He is very interested in hierarchy in the space and will achieve this through level changes, changes in materials and space planning. His project at this point is very interesting and quite complex at first glance. I am excited to see where he will take this. My advice for Cameron at the moment is to explore materials a little more. In doing an ad agency he has the opportunity to pull off some unusual designs.
I am an Interior Designer who recently married my best friend. I love every aspect of design and am constantly talking new on new projects, crafts and adventures in baking.
I believe in historic preservation and adaptive reuse of spaces. Preservation of our country's historic landmarks and sites is vital. In today’s society there is such a want for everything new and because of this we often overlook the existing. By bringing new life to these historic sites we can preserve our history for generations to come.
I believe in preservation of the earth and its resources. We live in such temporary situations with impermanent homes and short-lived furniture, all waiting to upgrade to the next best thing. There is no longevity to our lives and also to our designs. In anything that we do we should step back and consider the bigger picture and what impact our decisions and designs will have 10, 100, or even 10,000 years from now.
I believe in preserving the ideals of design in that a space, product or building should evoke an emotion. I love the feeling when I enter a well-designed space. I am enthralled in it and take in all I can. I want to preserve these feelings by creating more spaces for everyone to enjoy and hopefully one day my designs will evoke this reaction from others.
